Slow Cooker Unstuffed Cabbage Rolls

A delicious and healthy take on traditional cabbage rolls, made easy in a slow cooker.

Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cabbage by removing the core and separating the leaves.
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef with chopped onions and garlic.
  3. In a bowl, combine the cooked rice, diced tomatoes, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Layer the ingredients in the slow cooker, starting with cabbage leaves, then the meat and rice mixture.
  5. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
  6. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the cabbage is tender.

Notes

  • For added flavor, try adding a splash of Worcestershire sauce.
  • Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
