Slow Cooker Chicken Shawarma

  • 2 pounds chicken thighs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 lemon, juiced

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine olive oil, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add chicken thighs to the bowl and coat them evenly with the spice mixture.
  3. Place sliced onions in the bottom of the slow cooker and add the spiced chicken on top.
  4. Pour lemon juice over the chicken.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4 hours.
  6. Once cooked, shred the chicken with two forks and mix with the onions and juices.
  7. Serve with pita, rice, or salad.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.
  • Serve with tzatziki or garlic sauce.
