- 2 pounds russet potatoes
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh chives
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Slice the potatoes thinly and layer half of them in the dish.
- In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream and add the garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle half of the cheddar and Gruyère cheese.
- Layer the remaining potatoes, pour the rest of the cream mixture, and top with remaining cheese.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Garnish with fresh chives before serving.
